I’m Tony Recluse and welcome to my blog. I could give my whole biography here starting in the fall of seventy-seven to now but that’s boring story telling. Maybe I’ll start in 2019, a hot summer day in an air conditioned studio apartment. I’m typing on my Toshiba Satellite listening to the Piano Guys.

I’m here on the about page by chance. I was about to go to bed after a night shift but I had no clean underwear. So instead I decided to go to the laundromat however my phone is on five percent. I don’t know about you reader but that’s out of the question. If the phone dies I have to pay attention to reality and we can’t have that. So while my phone charges I’m working on this project but how did I get here in the blogosphere. Well that goes back ten years.

Flashback I lose my job running a store and decide to work two overnight jobs to pay the rent. I had no time for my girlfriend at the time. Well maybe I could’ve changed my sleep schedule to match her work schedule but like all failed relationships both parties have a number of could’ves. I stumbled upon the Problogger book by Darren Rowse and set up my first blogspot. The adsense contradicted my content and I failed to convert affiliates. Also readers that I knew took my self deprecating humor and sarcasm for seriously.

After the breakup and life basically fell apart I created another blog. Naively, I was going to create a brand and do all the things the experts said about finding a niche. It was going to be anti- motivational or motivation for slackers. Almost satirical of the motivation push and positivity of social media. I created Rising Recluse and from that my pseudonym was born. Thanks to someone I dated long distance I had a dope logo of a recluse spider colored green on black.

Well it failed I lost interest and started a YouTube channel called Tony Recluse. It’s mostly live music and barhopping. It also includes some travel and even stop motion animation. Currently I’m slacking on that while I type here.

So welcome readers and viewers. Here at Tony Recluse I will talk about movies. I was studying screenwriting and I’m currently working on the same screenplay I’ve not been writing for twenty years. On Monday’s I plan to post Movie Mondays in which I pick a movie to blog about with my own thoughts. It won’t be the modern “oh that’s problematic” posts although that can be said of “Birth of a Nation” and “Triumph of the Will”. Sometimes it will be about life like a journal talking about feeling and shit but with humor. If you can’t laugh then what’s the point of this. You’ll also get my view on politics and news. Let’s face it this is America, it’s 2019 and there’s a big elephant in the room; Tim Burton’s Dumbo. I’ll get into pop culture and whatever I’m reading.

Also I travel everywhere by bike (except groceries and flights). Eventually, someday I plan to bike around the country documenting the trip here on my blog. More specifically 2023 after twenty years in Florida. First I’ll head to Mile Marker Zero then north and west. Of course a lot can change in four years so more to come on that.

I can continue to ramble on or get this party started by making this site active. So here we go time is money and I’m going broke.
